Alan,
There is a nominal fee of $6000 to the vendor for the BPMS Report, for which they get unrestricted rights of distribution through their own channel in addition to distribution through BPMInstitute. For a 12,000 word report, this comes to $.50/word - in my world that is virtually free - with over 1000 downloads from BPMInstitute in addition to their own distribution. I don't think you should make it sound so sinister.

Bruce,

Could you clarify whether you charge vendors to write the individual reports? There is a rumour about that you do?

Bruce, this is brave!
As someone with 15 odd years experience in this strange vendor-analyst review dance, I've always resigned myself to the fact that although it can be really tough, the upside is that the resulting analysis can never be said to be biased (unless you mess up the review process), incomplete or incorrect.
So I salute your move - don't think I'm ready to do the same yet though...
And I'm also interested in the rankings. We've built our own online personalisable BPM vendor comparison tool which we're offering to customers of our new BPM advisory service - you might find it interesting.

Can I just say it is refreshing to see someone put the rankings out without the usual gnashing of teeth between vendors and analysts. Good post, and I look forward to reading more of the analysis!
thanks,

I can only access reports on BEA, EMC, Lombardi and WebMethods. Other reports have the status "Access suspended". Is it normal?

thanks,

Oeps, should be reading more detailed ;-).
But I do hope that other BPM vendors will start to support this!

Bruce, good to see your ratings.
I was wondering however - "the 11 leading BPM ".
In the overview I miss large BPM players like Pega, IBM (WPS, Filenet). Are you still planning to score these?
Regards,
Roeland Loggen
