BPMN Method and Style Validation for BPMessentials

This page is meant to assist BPMessentials clients in creating BPMN models consistent with the "method and style" principles described in the training. To use it, you must first export from Process Modeler v5.5 or higher using the Process/Diagram/Export to BPMN 2.0 function. If available, check the option to export BPMNDI graphics info. Upload the exported .bpmn file. This tool allows validation against the BPMN 2.0 schema in addition to Method and Style validation rules. The file should be well-formed XML. Schema validation errors usually mean that one or more sequence flows or message flows are not properly connected. (If properly connected, both ends should be RED in Visio.) If errors are listed, you should fix them in Process Modeler and repeat the validation process.

You can only perform Method and Style validation on .bpmn files; it will not work on .vsd, .vdx, or XPDL files. Important: You MUST perform Method and Style validation in order to reset the tool.

This tool is in beta and may contain omissions and errors. Not all BPMN 2.0 shapes and symbols are supported in this version of the tool. For example, event subprocess, transaction cancel and compensation, and ad-hoc subprocess are not currently supported. Link events used as off-page connectors are not fully supported. Please report any bugs or other comments to bruce@brsilver.com.

Important note: The BPMN export must be done with Process Modeler 5 Service Release 5 or higher. It will not work with PM 5.4. A PM 5.5 release candidate is now available on bpmessentals.com. Remember to uninstall the old version before installing the new one.
